On these pages are a selection of the type of publications displayed in the banner at the top of the page. They are mainly original 1914-1918 documents which have been scanned and reproduced as PDF files. We are offering them (at minimum cost) as eBooks that can be downloaded and read on your computer. Alternatively, the files can be printed out and read as physical books..

At present, the publications offered here are not displayed in subject groups, nor are they presented in any particular order. Except for page 4, which contains publications about prisoners of war and the camps they were in.  We will add more titles to the lists.

BURBERRY'S MILITARY KIT CATALOGUE. (c.1905) This14-page brochure has a number of superb line-drawing highlighting some of the styles of weather-wear that the famous company manufactured. Lord Kitchener was pleased to give a testimonial. He said, "Lord Kitchener is sure the Burberry will prove a most valuable addition to his campaigning kit." Lord Roberts got in on the act too, 
"Lord Roberts finds the Burberry very comfortable, and has already worn it in heavy rain."

Exhibition of Ambulance Train. (c.1916) This 16-page souvenir brochure describes the composition of an ambulance train constructed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway company. "on the order of the War Office for the use of our troops in France." The maximum accommodation was of 638 patients.

(November 1919) This is a 5-page reprint of a letter which appeared in The Times.The letter was sent by a British soldier - serving in North Russia - to his wife, and revealed the alleged atrocities committed by the Bolshevists in their bid to control Russia and General Denikin's opposition to them. An interesting eye-witness account of the situation there.
